Learning difficulties: How should parents react to their detection?

It is not easy to accept that our child has learning difficulties, and at díde we know it. Sometimes, it is difficult to recognize that our little one will need help in academic development. Don’t panic! Early detection of the problem will improve the resolution of these difficulties, since the sooner the problem is addressed, the more favorable the results will be.

Once a learning difficulty is detected in the child, parents must provide essential support in order to improve the effectiveness of the ‘controlled’ learning process. This support will prevent the child from incurring possible emotional disorders, since some parents may see the problem in question as a frustrating or disappointing situation.

At díde we want to emphasize the importance and vulnerability of the child in situations of learning difficulties. Sometimes, they cannot find solutions to their problems on their own; we are the ones who must help them.

Parents do not have to blame themselves for this situation. Please, it is important to understand our child’s learning difficulties above all else. Parents must be consistent and willing to adapt to the child’s learning pace, avoiding at all times putting pressure on and forcing the learning pace.

How to detect learning difficulties?

In the face of detection of learning difficulties, quick decisions must be made in order to find the most appropriate professional help. For example, the díde platform provides a series of 35 indicators that specifically identify the learning difficulties that the child presents. In addition, the questionnaires provide specific information on the difficulty in question that will guide mothers and fathers towards the appropriate professional.

Parents and mothers must coordinate with teachers/professors as well as with the professional team to address the learning difficulties together and in the same direction, but always following the guidelines and recommendations of the professional in question.

Perhaps the difficulties derive from bullying that causes a lack of school motivation, an important lack of attention, etc. acquired factors (not innate) that prevent the child from showing their potential.

díde wants mothers and fathers to be calm once learning problems have been identified in children, guiding you towards the professional who will help you solve the child’s difficulties. Join the #efectodíde!
